The 16th Century Music Stand
Music has been a part of history from folk dancing lyrics to Hip-hop and the classics. Music stands have been there every step of the way for the musician playing the tunes. Mine is a reproduction from the classical period. Maghony is a classic wood used during this period and the picture seen here is one I made in 1991. My son is a composer and I wanted to make him something related to that field as a gift graduating from high school. The music stand seemed the perfect gift.
You will see different woods used as well as metal stands used for this purpose. I, of course, prefer wood. I saw some from China and some from local artists trying to compete in the price area. I have made this one and several more over the years as gifts out of maghony, oak and mesquite woods. Those pictures you can see in the coming pages. I hope, as you investigate these options, that you recognize the uniqueness of my faithful reproductions and attention to detail that makes Colorado Case and Cabinet Company music stands worthy of your attention.
The details for an adjustable height vary. If your recipient of this gift is very short or very tall, no problem, I can adjust the settings for standing or sitting. The tilt, as shown in the pictures of the music stand, is adjustable also as you can see for the musician sitting or standing as needed. The height is currently set at 36 to 38 inches high for the lowest seat. The table top design is 18h by 13w inches with a generous trough to carry a score of music.
The finishes available are limited by your woods available in the quantity needed to produce your unique music stand. Therefore prices will vary. A maghony music stand starts at only $895 fob the shop in Houston,TX.
